Keep the four titles distinct
Black and White begin their own Unova story. Black 2 and White 2 continue the setting with different content. A buying or setup guide should identify which pair it covers so you do not accidentally obtain the sequel when you intended to start with the earlier game.
Check the cartridge’s language and region details as well as the system model. Some enhanced DS software has additional region behavior on later hardware; an import listing should not be treated as automatically compatible with every 3DS.
Switch availability is a separate question
A newer Nintendo console does not directly read DS game cards. The official sources checked here do not establish a Switch release of this pair. Other Pokémon rereleases are not evidence that all generations are included.
Playing on a computer
Use a DS emulator appropriate to your platform and supply your own compatible game file. Configure both displays and touch controls before beginning a long session. Follow the maintainer’s documentation for saves and optional system files.
Keep ordinary in-game saves in addition to any emulator snapshots. Before changing software or importing a save, duplicate the original file and record which title it belongs to. Black and Black 2 are not interchangeable save targets.
Moving Pokémon is another workflow
Historical migration from these generations involves services and intermediate steps rather than a direct modern trade. Pokémon Bank’s announced end of service makes the current transfer route time-sensitive. Consult the transfer guide and current support notice before assuming the route will remain available.
