A task list is more useful than blind repetition
Different entries ask for different observations and actions. Catching, seeing moves and other species-specific activities can contribute. Check the actual list instead of assuming every species is completed by catching the same number of individuals.
Pick tasks that fit what you are already doing. If a Pokémon is in your party, using a relevant move may be convenient. If you are passing through its habitat, an appropriate catching task may be easier.
Research level and perfection are different goals
An entry can reach its standard research milestone before every task is finished. Completing every task is a separate, more demanding goal. Decide which one you need for your current objective before spending extra time on a rare encounter.
Tasks that receive greater emphasis in the interface can be especially useful for efficient progress. Read the symbols and progress markers in the game rather than treating every checkbox as identical.
Plan a short field route
- Open the entries for species in the area you are visiting.
- Select a few tasks you can complete safely with your current supplies.
- Bring party members that can perform the required moves when relevant.
- Return to camp and report your findings after meaningful progress.
Research is a good reason to rotate your party. A Pokémon you do not intend to use forever can still help complete a record and teach you how its moves behave.
Keep the trainer’s safety in the plan
Do not remain in a dangerous group just to finish one more observation. Restocking balls and healing at camp is often faster than recovering from an avoidable failed expedition.
This guide explains the workflow without listing late-story collection requirements. If your next objective asks for a particular research milestone, read that wording carefully: completing an entry, catching every species and finishing every task are not the same demand.
