How to set up Colosseum and XD in Dolphin

Use the GameCube configuration

Dolphin also supports Wii, but these Pokémon adventures use the GameCube setup. Read the project’s controller guide and map every required button, including the sticks and triggers, to your chosen device.

The Dolphin guides include instructions for dumping owned games and for configuring performance and controls. Use those project references rather than a download bundle that combines an emulator with unidentified game files.

Make a memory-card plan

Choose the documented memory-card or save-storage configuration and create a normal save from inside the game. Close the software cleanly and make a backup before changing the storage arrangement.

Save states are useful for a short experiment, but their format is not the same as a conventional GameCube save. Keep a normal save available if a Dolphin update changes snapshot compatibility.

Troubleshoot at default settings

Begin with the current recommended build and default graphics settings. If you need a change, consult the game’s compatibility information and alter one setting at a time. A copied list of hacks can hide the original problem.

Check sound, menus and saving as well as the title screen. A successful launch is only the beginning of a useful compatibility check.

Handheld connectivity is an additional feature

GameCube-to-GBA links and Pokémon transfers need their own supported configuration. They are not guaranteed simply because Dolphin and a handheld emulator are installed on the same computer.
