Start at the den
Interact with an active den and read the encounter information before committing. The visible silhouette, type information and difficulty help you choose a party member. Raid availability can depend on location, weather and event conditions.
If you are playing with friends, decide whether the session is local or online. Use the game’s communication options for the mode you intend rather than expecting a nearby player to appear in an internet lobby automatically.
Raids have their own rhythm
The boss is not an ordinary wild encounter simply enlarged on screen. Raid shields, group participation and the Dynamax opportunity influence the plan. A move that seems ideal for one-on-one damage may be less useful when the encounter’s special rules come into play.
Choose a reliable move and pay attention to the group’s condition. A teammate that stays in battle can be more useful than one chosen solely for a favorable attacking type but unable to survive the boss’s response.
Learn at a sensible difficulty
Begin with raids appropriate for your progress. If a higher-tier encounter repeatedly fails, improve the Pokémon’s level, moves and defensive matchup before treating more attempts as the only solution.
When the group defeats the boss, follow the game’s catching opportunity. Do not apply the assumptions of GO raids or Scarlet and Violet Tera Raids to this encounter; their ball supplies, timing and battle systems differ.
Check event information separately
An old guide can describe a limited-time den distribution that is no longer active. The permanent raid system and a particular promotional encounter are different facts. Use current official notices when hunting a specific event Pokémon.
This page explains the basic loop. It does not claim a guaranteed catch or an all-purpose build for every raid boss. Check the actual encounter and adapt the team’s plan.
