Attack the Tera Type, survive the species
The Tera Type changes the boss’s defensive type matchup. Its species still helps you anticipate dangerous moves and other behavior. A Pokémon that hits the Tera Type hard but collapses to the boss’s attacks is not a reliable answer.
Start with lower-difficulty raids to learn the interface and timing. Higher tiers expect more preparation than an ordinary story encounter. Levels, move choices and suitable training become more important as the difficulty rises.
Give the Pokémon a raid role
Choose reliable damage, useful support or a clear combination. A support move that keeps the team alive can contribute more than a weak attack repeated every turn. Do not copy a build without checking the boss, Ability interactions and the move’s purpose.
Avoid spending the whole encounter setting up a plan that the boss can interrupt or reset. Watch the actual fight and adjust when the situation changes.
Coordinate the connection
Use the Poké Portal and the game’s raid options for the activity you intend. Local play and online play are separate connection modes; internet features can require Nintendo Switch Online. A shared Union Circle session does not remove every raid-specific joining rule.
With friends, discuss who will handle damage and who will support before entering. With strangers, favor a stable plan over assuming everyone will follow an elaborate sequence.
Review a failed attempt
Ask whether the team was losing to incoming damage, a poor matchup or an unfinished strategy. Leveling or training may help, but changing a move, item or team role can be the more direct fix.
Event raids have additional availability and participation details. Check the current official event notice instead of treating an old event guide as a permanent encounter list. This page covers preparation, not a guaranteed build for every raid boss.
