Get access through the game’s introduction
Follow the story until you receive the means to enter the Underground. Use the game’s instructions for where the feature is available. It is not simply a cave doorway that you must locate on the surface map.
Once inside, learn the map and the route back. Different entry locations and your story progress can matter for what you can reach and encounter, so do not assume an online screenshot describes the exact area available from your current position.
Digging is a separate activity from catching
When mining, inspect the wall and make deliberate tool choices. You are working within the dig’s limits, so uncovering one useful object can be better than collapsing the wall while chasing everything.
In hideaways, the focus shifts to wild Pokémon. Carry balls, healing supplies and a team that can handle the encounters you are entering. A mining trip can become inconvenient if you find a wanted Pokémon after using your last suitable ball.
Use the Secret Base system thoughtfully
Statues and base features connect to the Underground’s encounter systems. Read the current in-game explanations instead of assuming the decorations are purely cosmetic or that one placement guarantees a specific rare Pokémon.
If your objective is a particular species, check the game version, hideaway type and progress requirements before repeating the same room over and over.
Check connection settings
Solo, local and online exploration are not identical contexts. Confirm the intended mode before inviting someone or following a multiplayer guide. A feature associated with another player does not automatically work in a solo visit.
The Grand Underground is useful alongside the main adventure. You can return after more progress rather than treating its full collection and mining systems as a requirement to finish immediately.
