Styles are a timing decision
Once a move is mastered and supports styles, you can consider its normal, Agile or Strong version. The move’s exact result depends on the situation. Agile does not promise an extra action every time, and Strong does not promise a knockout.
The useful question is what happens after this move. If a stronger hit leaves the opponent alive and gives it room to act again, the extra power may not have helped. If Agile creates a valuable follow-up, its lower immediate damage can be worthwhile.
Read the displayed order
Compare the action list before and after selecting a style. Use that information to decide whether to attack, heal, apply a condition or change the plan. A visible ordering benefit is more meaningful than choosing Agile because the name sounds safer.
Normal Style remains useful. It can preserve resources and deliver adequate damage without the more extreme tradeoff. There is no requirement to use a special style whenever one is available.
Practice on a manageable encounter
Try the same mastered move in different styles against an opponent you can handle. Observe the power, PP use and order changes rather than judging only by the animation. Heal and replenish moves when necessary before the next difficult fight.
For catching, less damage can be useful, but you still need to avoid accidental knockouts and account for the target’s next actions. A powerful style can be the wrong choice when the goal is capture rather than victory.
Keep this separate from normal priority
The usual main-series priority brackets and Speed rules are helpful background, but they are not a complete explanation of Arceus’s action-order system. A guide for Sword and Shield will not predict every sequence here.
If a fight feels unfair because the opponent acts more often, stop and inspect the timeline. The interface is showing information the ordinary turn-by-turn habit can cause you to overlook.
