Set up the second controller
Follow the game’s controller and co-op prompts, then check that both people can move and attack before entering a harder stage. A supported controller is needed for each player in the chosen setup.
If the option is unavailable at the very start, continue the introduction until the game presents the feature. Do not assume a missing opening menu means the installation is broken.
Understand the two roles
Kirby uses the game’s signature ability systems, while Bandana Waddle Dee has a different combat role. Let the second player try those controls before expecting every Kirby-specific interaction to work for both characters.
The screen and progression still follow a shared adventure. Agree on whether you are exploring for secrets or going directly to the goal so one player is not repeatedly pulled away from something they are trying to inspect.
Choose the challenge together
Use the available difficulty and assistance settings that suit the pair. A comfortable learning setup can make the second player more involved than repeatedly restarting a stage neither person is enjoying.
Local does not imply online campaign co-op
Read the product’s exact player and mode information. A game supporting two people on one system does not automatically provide the same campaign over the internet.
Also distinguish the original game from later Switch 2 Edition additions. An edition-specific feature should not be promised as part of an unchanged original Switch copy.
For a first session, choose a straightforward stage and let each player learn movement, attacks and the shared-screen behavior. That is more useful than immediately testing the pair on a difficult optional challenge.
